The Five Best Dog Movies of All Time

Dog movies are an American staple. When listing the five best movies of all time you may think that it would be the ones that made the most at the box office, but this leave out many classic dog movies. The five best dog movies of all time are: Old Yeller, Homeward Bound, Marley and Me, Best in Show, and Benji.

Old Yeller, perhaps one of the biggest tear jerker movies of all time, is a well loved classic adapted from the 1956 novel. This is the story about a family in the antebellum south. The father is away trying to earn money. Old Yeller is a stray dog who befriends the family and even defends them from a rabid wolf. This movie is popular among adults and children alike. This is the first movie that focused on the love between a boy and his dog, and it spurned many other films and books with a similar theme.

Homeward Bound: the Incredible Journey is a great family movie. This 1993 film is a remake of the lesser known 1963 film The Incredible Journey. Homeward Bound is about the journey of two dogs and a cat as they make their way home. The animal personalities rule the film. Chance, the American Bulldog, is a scrappy wanderer who tries to put out an air of not needing anyone. Shadow, the loyal and older Golden Retriever is a caring soul who watches out for the other two animals. Sassy, the long haired cat, is a prissy, pampered pet who longs to return to the comforts of home. Together these three have funny adventures as well as heart rending ones in their journey to find their loved ones. This movie helped to establish the idea of animals having individual personalities as many pet owners will attest to.

Marley and Me, the newest film on this list, is guaranteed to be a classic. Based upon the book by John Grogan, this film depicts the lovable but worst dog ever, Marley. Marley gets into disaster after disaster from tearing his home apart to shaking in his boots at every thunderstorm that rolls across Florida. Marely and Me depicts the life of Marely from puppyhood up to old age and the journey he has with his family along the way. The love for a dog that never seems to do the right thing is one that many pet owners will connect with.

Best in Show, the 2000 mockumentary about contestants in a dog show, is a hilarious look into the world of dogs and their owners. This movie is more about the people who love their dogs than about the dogs, but dog owners everywhere will love it anyway. There are five dogs featured in the film: a Norwich terrier, a Bloodhound, a Weimaraner, a Shih-Tzu, and a Poodle. These dogs represent pretty common entrants into dog shows. Their owners back stories, however, are what really brings personality to the film from the over-obsessive yuppy pet parents to the Weimaraner to the quirky owners of the Norwich terrier.

Benji, a classic dog movie from the 1970’s, is a great one for anyone who has ever adopted a stray, mixed dog. This movie includes as a great mystery as Benji works to save two children who have been kidnapped. This film is guaranteed to be loved by the whole family as much as Benji, the stray dog, is loved by so many people in his town. Benji was such a popular dog character that his character was reprised for additional films all the way up to 2004, thirty years after the first Benji film debuted.

Benefits of Watching Movies Online

Watching movies is one of the favourite past times of popular cultures worldwide. Since the internet revolution we have been in search of ways to download movies but after a while this method became tedious and often lead to poor quality downloads or simply the wrong movie being downloaded. With the social networking era bringing creations like YouTube has brought about a new wave of ways to watch videos online. Big movie making companies like Paramount and Warner Bros. have seen the potential here, where people do not have to buy the movie, download it or physical hold the movie in order to watch it. They have allowed for their films to become legally streamed by companies for a small fee or free depending on the film. There are many benefits to watching movies online and this article will explain them to you.

One of the main benefits of watching movies online is the fact that it is instant for people to use and view the movie straight away. When you want to a movie another way you might have to go down to your local store and purchase the movie or buy online and wait for the film to arrive in the mail. The instant nature of the new way to watch movies is excellent for movie enthusiasts.

The next major benefit is the way movies can be watched without downloading. Too often you can find a movie online and you will have to download a large movie and wait for the entire movie to finish downloading before you can watch it. When you watch movies online free you do not have to wait for the entire download to finish, you just instantly start watching the movie without waiting at all.

The final benefit of companies that offer this service is that it is a low price to the consumer to watch a movie online or they may even let you watch movies online free. Buying a movie from a store can be extremely costly as it might be up to twenty five dollars for one movie. If you watch movies online free there is no cost but also if there is a cost it will be a low monthly subscription and you can watch as many movies a month as you want without restriction. This works for heavy movie watchers and as well as those casual movie watchers who only have time to watch 1 a week or fortnight.

Most Inspirational Movies And The Lessons I've Learned From Them

When I think about the most inspirational movies I have seen, I realize that they cut across genres and styles.

Some of them are heavy with drama, while others are more fast-paced and action-filled. However, one thing that they have in common is their ability to evoke strong emotion in me.

If you’re looking for some of the most inspirational movies ever created, check my list out.

Most Inspirational Movie # 1: “I Am Sam”

“I Am Sam” is a story of a mentally-challenged father who fights for the custody of his seven-year-old daughter. A lot of people remember this movie because of the gripping portrayal of Sean Penn, Dakota Fanning and Michelle Pfeiffer.

In the movie, Pfeiffer’s character (a cold-hearted lawyer) is taught a very valuable lesson about family and love. One very intense scene from the movie shows everyone in the courtroom affected by Penn’s honesty. Even the lawyer from the opposition obviously sympathizes with Penn.

To be quite honest, we often take these two concepts for granted. We rebel against our parents and sometimes get into fights with our brothers and sisters; but in the movie, we are also reminded of how love - familial love - can be enough.

Most Inspirational Movie # 2: “Gladiator”

If heavy drama is not your thing, then perhaps you’d appreciate Russel Crowe and his portrayal of a Roman general named Maximus more.

In the film, Maximus lost everything he ever held dear - his wife and his son. He had been favored to become the next in line to the emperor’s seat - a fact that the emperor’s son, Commodus, could not accept.

Jealous of Maximus, Commodus tried to destroy the beloved general. Maximus was turned into a slave, but even slavery couldn’t stop him from following through with his revenge.

“Gladiator” is exactly the kind of movie you’d want to watch if you want to feel empowered. Aside from the wealth of strategy lessons you can pick up from the movie, Gladiator also teaches you that a man can overcome all odds when he is focused and fueled. Keep your eye on the prize.

Most Inspirational Movie # 3: “The Bucket List”

In The Bucket List, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman play two men who decide to make the most of every day that they are blessed with.

Both cancer patients, they break out of the hospital to do all the things that they’ve always wanted to do, but never did. They created a bucket list and went about fulfilling every item on it.

While the movie teaches us not to take life for granted, it also shows us that it’s important to let old wounds heal - to make amends, to forgive and ask for forgiveness. More than racing expensive cars and eating at five-star restaurants, we should focus our energies on these simple things.

These are just some of the most inspirational movies I’ve seen in my lifetime. There are still a lot more to add to the list, but they will have to wait for another time.

Movie Posters Sells Movies

I love watching movies, so much so that I collect every print poster of my favorite movies. I have that melancholic poster printing of 'Gone With the Wind.' I had to shell out several dollars to get it because apparently it has become a collector's item. I have all those print posters of all the Bond films. I have The Godfather print posters tucked away in a sealed container to preserve its quality. I love those movies and those print posters represent every one of them.
